Palazzo Centurione, Castelnuovo Scrivia Laser cleaning of ceiling decorations in a 17th-century historic palace

In the 17th-century Palazzo Centurione at Via Garibaldi in Castelnuovo Scrivia, conservation and precise laser cleaning of ceiling decorations executed in stucco-painting technique were carried out. The work, performed with a pulsed fiber laser, aimed to gently remove long-accumulated dirt and deposits without affecting the original pigment layer. Laser technology made it possible to thoroughly clean the surfaces while fully respecting the structure and texture of the historic plaster, thus restoring the legibility of colors and ornamental details. The applied method constituted a preparatory stage for subsequent conservation and consolidation works conducted by the team of restorers, aimed at preserving and enhancing the unique Baroque interiors of the palace.
